What would Jesus do? "As the One who accepts and loves, he would be...volunteering at soup kitchens rather than granting tax cuts to the rich. He'd be planting trees instead of strip-mining national parks. He'd be working to take care of those who have trouble surviving in our society, rather than rewarding the rich."

Sample Inteview Questions for Jesus Rode a Donkey
for radio, television or print interviews with Dr. Linda Seger

(1) You say that Republicans don't have a corner on Christ. Do you believe that Democrats have the corner on Christ? Aren't you just reversing the stereotype?

They also believe that this is Biblical. What evidence do you have for a Biblical interpretation for the government helping the poor and the needy?

(3) Do you believe that you know how Jesus would vote? Is there any consistency in his message that could be used to help us make political decisions?

(4) Genesis 1 tells humankind to have dominion over the earth and to subdue it. Yet, you point instead to Genesis 2 as the formation of an environmental theology. How do these two theologies differ? Which do you consider the prevailing Biblical theology?

(5) It seems that the Bible takes a very clear stance against homosexuality. Yet, you analyze and interpret these anti-gay verses in a different way. What evidence do you have that your analysis is valid?

(6) Can you find evidence in the Bible that is either for, or against, abortion?

(7) Do you believe that peace is possible?

(8) Do you think that's it's practical to do what Jesus asked us to do - to love our enemies and do good to those who persecute you? Isn't that naïve and impractical?

(9) Why are you so concerned about the fear tactics that so many politicians use? Aren't you also concerned about terrorism?

(10) You have a very varied religious background. How do you believe this helps (or does not help) in your analysis of political and religious issues?

Why Republicans Don't Have the Corner on Christ

Is a Christian Democrat an oxymoron? Dr. Linda Seger, who holds 2 M.A. degrees in Theology and a ThD in Theology and Drama, shows how Christian values have shaped, and continue to shape, many of the policies of the Democratic Party. She looks at such controversial issues as ecology, taking care of the poor and needy, war and peace, terrorism, abortion, and homosexuality from both a Biblical and theological perspective.
